Fond du Lac Board of Education Approved Two Administrative Hires for the 2024-25 School Year

The Fond du Lac School District (FDL-SD) announces that Joseph Moylan will become the Director of English Language and Bilingual Programing. Dr. Moylan is returning to K-12 education and will start his new role on April 3, 2024. He will join our leadership team, which will impact our entire Fond du Lac learning community.  

Most recently, Dr. Moylan worked in higher education as an assistant professor and department chair of doctoral programs at Cardinal Stritch University, where he has been since 2019. He brings a wealth of experience from his time as the principal of Oconomowoc High School from 2002 to 2018. Before his career in Wisconsin, he held various positions in Colorado, including assistant principal, school counselor, at-risk teacher, gifted and talented facilitator and football coach. Dr. Moylan also has a background in mental health, having worked as a therapist in both Colorado and Chicago, where he began his teaching career.

“The FDL-SD is an exciting place to work for me because of their focus on students and their needs,” said Dr. Moylan. “I share their mission and vision for learning and sense of belonging for students and look forward to working with the team of educators to move all kids in their educational journey.”

Dr. Moylan, an award-winning educator, has been actively involved in various Wisconsin committees dedicated to educational initiatives. He holds a Doctorate in Leadership, Learning and Service, along with superintendent certification from Cardinal Stritch University. His credentials include a Master Administrator Capstone from the University of Wisconsin, a principal license and a school counseling certification from the University of Phoenix. Additionally, he earned a Master of Arts in Theology and Counseling from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in History from Carroll University (Wis.).

“Dr. Moylan’s extensive education leadership background and proven track record of fostering inclusive learning environments make him the ideal choice to lead our efforts in expanding bilingual education,” said Dr. Jeff Fleig, Superintendent. “His commitment to embracing and enhancing linguistic diversity will be a tremendous asset as we strive to meet the evolving needs of our students.”

The Fond du Lac School District (FDL-SD) is excited to announce Michael Lytle as the new principal of Woodworth Middle School, starting July 1, 2024. He succeeds the retiring Tim Schipper, who has served the Fond du Lac for 31 years.

Mr. Lytle comes to the FDL-SD with an extensive educational background, having served as the LakeVille Community Schools (Michigan) Superintendent since 2017. He spent six years as the principal of Clio High School (Michigan) and six years as the principal of Garner Elementary (Clio, MI). Prior to his administration background, Mr. Lytle was a K-12 district math implementer in Bay City Public Schools (Michigan) and a teacher in Bay City for five years.

“I am looking forward to learning, leading and growing with the staff, students and families of Woodworth Middle School and the Fond du Lac School District,” said Michael Lytle. 

Mr. Lytle has an Educational Specialist certification from the University of Michigan-Flint, a Master of Arts degree in school principalship from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Central Michigan University.

“His diverse experience and dedication to education make him the perfect fit for Woodworth Middle School. We are confident in his ability to lead and grow Woodworth into a bright future.”
